90 Days in Genesis, Exodus, Psalms, Galatians is an excellent volume that belongs to the “Explore by the Book” series published by The Good Book Company. It is edited by Lee Gatiss, and the writings are provided by none other than the Reformers themselves: John Calvin, Martin Luther, Heinrich Bullinger, and Thomas Cranmer. That in itself should lead you to buy this book!

90 Days in Genesis, Exodus, Psalms, Galatians
This is my first interaction with the Explore by the Book series. I really like the idea of the 90 Days in specific bible books. The format of this book is really neat. The book begins by working through the book of Galatians (written by Luther). Thomas Cranmer’s writings (the Anglican homilies) appear every seventh day throughout the book. Next is the section on Genesis (Calvin), then Bullinger’s sections on the Apostles’ Creed and the Ten Commandments. Lastly is Calvin’s section on the Psalms. Again, this is a very neat layout!
Each day provides a Scripture reading which is followed by two questions. After that comes the writing by each particular author. There is then an “Apply” section and a “Pray” section. Lastly, each day has an entire lined page for journaling notes and prayers. Once again…a very neat layout!
I want to comment on two things about this book.
- The content is excellent! Imagine sitting down each morning with your Bible, and after reading it and praying, you hang out with one of the Reformers and listen to their thoughts on the reading for that day. It is excellent material! I would also check out the glossary when needed. It’s very nicely done. I encourage readers of this book to take their time working through the Bible text, prayer, and reading. Leave time for the notes and prayer section. Don’t skip over that, even if you’re tempted to. Instead, take your time! Now, with that being said, if you wake up late one morning and need to be a little quicker than you want to be, each day’s devotional could be completed in less than 10-15 minutes.
- The physical book itself is very nice! It’s a hardcover book with a ribbon marker (I love my ribbon markers). The paper is nice and thick, making it nice for note-taking.
Grab your Bible, a pen, and this book. Sit down and enjoy fellowship with the Triune God, and then listen to your Reformer friends as they share their thoughts with you about God’s Holy Word. I highly recommend this book to you. Take up and read.
