Ivill mentions in a note at the beginning of the book that the outline of this book has come from a speaking engagement topic that she has shared with many groups of women over the past few years. The book’s main idea is one that every Christian needs to hear and be challenged on.
Ivill contends that many of us (a polite way of saying all of us) are seeking to have our hearts filled, but we’re looking in all the wrong places for that satisfaction. Ivill uses Jeremiah 2:13 as the basis for this book, and she does a fantastic job of working through it and other passages of God’s Word to show the danger of looking in the wrong places and the blessing of looking in the right place for our satisfaction. We will never be satisfied with the broken cisterns in this imperfect, sin-cursed world, but we will always have our thirst satisfied when we go to the Fountain of Living Water!
Ivill handled the Word of God very wisely in this book, and it’s sure to be an encouragement to all who read it. This book is a great resource for women who are looking to be challenged (though very gently) and encouraged. It would definitely be an excellent resource to work through as a ladies group.

Matt became a joyful follower of Jesus at the age of 21. He is very grateful to be a husband to Lindsey, and a father to four boys. He is an ordained minister (teaching elder) in the PCA. He previously served as a pastor of biblical counseling and is currently a corporate chaplain in southern Delaware. Matt received his Master of Divinity degree in Biblical Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and holds an advanced certification in biblical counseling from the Association of Biblical Counselors. In his free time, he loves playing with his boys, traveling with his wife, and reading (and buying!) books.
