Evangelistic Sermons at Aberavon
There’s a good chance that you’ve heard of Lloyd-Jones’ sermons on the book of Romans. I am currently reading through them, and they are spectacular! However, as I read through this book on his evangelistic sermons, I at times actually prefer these sermons over his work on Romans. This has nothing to do with his exposition or on the content being exposited, but more so with his tone and his pastoral heart.
These sermons are saturated with Christ (as are his sermons on Romans), but they are also saturated with a pleading with others to come to this Christ (hence, evangelistic). Sermon by sermon, Lloyd-Jones is offering the glorious, resurrected Christ to all. And, he’s doing so with great urgency. And, he does so without leaving the text as many preachers do today when preaching “evangelistic sermons”. Lloyd-Jones stays true to his task of exegeting the Scriptures, but as he does so, he is constantly leading others to the Christ whom alone can save.
These sermons are heart-warming and motivating! They will help the reader to fall more in love with Christ, and to have a greater desire to tell others about Him. May more and more people read these excellent sermons! Tolle lege, take up and read.

Matt became a joyful follower of Jesus at the age of 21. He is very grateful to be a husband to Lindsey, and a father to four boys. He is an ordained minister (teaching elder) in the PCA. He previously served as a pastor of biblical counseling and is currently a corporate chaplain in southern Delaware. Matt received his Master of Divinity degree in Biblical Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and holds an advanced certification in biblical counseling from the Association of Biblical Counselors. In his free time, he loves playing with his boys, traveling with his wife, and reading (and buying!) books.
