Everyday Apologetics: Answering Common Objections to the Christian Faith
Everyday Apologetics is a very nice book by Lexham Press which addresses some of the bigger objections to Christianity. The chapters are short in length and the entire book is designed to be very accessible. Some books on apologetics are very philosophical and difficult for the average reader to grasp. This book is written for everyone, whether they’re a mature Christian or a brand new believer. Even skeptics and seekers are invited to dive in.
The book is divided into three parts:
- Defending the Faith Today
- Answering Objections
- Building a Positive Case
My personal favorite chapter was “Why is the Old Testament God so Violent” which is found in part two. This is indeed a rather common criticism of Christianity, and Barton Priebe’s response was very helpful, encouraging, and effective as an answer to opponents.
Chris Price’s chapter on “Why Does God Allow Suffering” was well done as well. Though his discussion on free will was devoid of anything that Luther or Edwards has taught (how can you possibly discuss free will to that extent without referencing those theological giants?), I still appreciated his teaching on the connection between free will and suffering in this world.
Lastly, Mark Clark’s chapter on the resurrection was also a wonderful contribution to this book. Clark covers a lot of territory in a short amount of space.
This is a little book (300 pages, but has big print and measures only about 5×7 inches). This means that it shouldn’t intimidate people who want to dive into apologetics. This book could be read quite quickly.
Conclusion
I highly recommend this book to Christians and opponents who want to interact with some of the most difficult objections to Christianity. This book will certainly strengthen believers as they work through these topics.
Tolle lege, take up and read!

Reviews of Commentaries by Lexham Press:
Matt became a joyful follower of Jesus at the age of 21. He is very grateful to be a husband to Lindsey, and a father to four boys. He is an ordained minister (teaching elder) in the PCA. He previously served as a pastor of biblical counseling and is currently a corporate chaplain in southern Delaware. Matt received his Master of Divinity degree in Biblical Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and holds an advanced certification in biblical counseling from the Association of Biblical Counselors. In his free time, he loves playing with his boys, traveling with his wife, and reading (and buying!) books.
