Scott R. Swain is the author of The Trinity and the Bible: On Theological Interpretation. This book is published by Lexham Academic. This excellent book consists of six essays that were written by Swain over the past decade. They were written for different audiences and at different levels of academic rigor, but they are all accomplishing the same end, namely the theological interpretation of Holy Scripture on the the topic of the Trinity.

The Trinity and the Bible: On Theological Interpretation
Scott Swain has done much work on the topic of the Trinity in the last decade (perhaps longer than that?), and anything written by him on this topic is worthy of reading. This book is no exception! The topics that are covered in this book are very fascinating! The first essay (chapter two) deals with the topic of the Trinity in contemporary thought. Perhaps one of the greatest quotes in the book comes from this chapter. Swain says this:
“We cannot fully appreciate how ‘the Trinity is in the Bible’ without observing how ‘the Bible is in the Trinity.’ While the Bible is the cognitive principle of the Trinity, the supreme source from which our knowledge of the Trinity is drawn, the Trinity is the ontological principle of the Bible. The Trinity is not simply one of the things about which the Bible speaks. The Trinity is the speaker from whom the Bible and all things proceed.”
I believe that quote is a great example of what this entire book is about!
Throughout the book, Swain deals with B.B. Warfield’s doctrine of the Trinity, Mark 12 and Galatians 4 and the doctrine of the Trinity, Revelation 4-5 and the “hymning” of God’s Triune Name, and then lastly, seven axioms in regards to the Trinity, the Bible, and theological interpretation.
Conclusion
This book is wonderful, and I highly recommend it to you. I hope that more and more Christians will find books such as this to be helpful in their sanctification. I greatly enjoyed it and found myself worshipping the Lord as I read it.
