Children’s Book: Why Do We Say Good Night?
This small book is a wonderful addition to any children’s library! Champ Thornton writes a beautiful poem that reminds children that our good God is always with us and watching over us. When we have fear, our God is near!
Rommel Ruiz does a fantastic job of illustrating this book! I think he does well at illustrating the darkness without making it too scary for little children, while also showing the glory of the light!
This book will be read very quickly, as the poem is rather short. However, I don’t count that as a weakness. Some children’s books need to be short in length in order to effectively teach a lesson, and I believe this is one such book.
I highly recommend this book for this beautiful, good message about the presence of the Lord and His protection over us when we are scared. Your child will love it!

Matt became a joyful follower of Jesus at the age of 21. He is very grateful to be a husband to Lindsey, and a father to four boys. He is an ordained minister (teaching elder) in the PCA. He previously served as a pastor of biblical counseling and is currently a corporate chaplain in southern Delaware. Matt received his Master of Divinity degree in Biblical Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and holds an advanced certification in biblical counseling from the Association of Biblical Counselors. In his free time, he loves playing with his boys, traveling with his wife, and reading (and buying!) books.
